About Duo The pairing of the Japanese koto and the violin as a duo is very recent. The Mizutani-Liptak Duo is particularly interested in increasing
the repertoire for the ensemble by commissioning new works. Their pioneering and promoting efforts include performances, recordings, radio broadcasts, presentations and lectures about their work, music, and instruments. A new recording that is entirely music for violin and koto will be release in later of 2006. Commission works Ice Flower (David Liptak 2004),

concerts in Italy, Denmark, Poland, Minnesota, San Francisco, and Rochester. Prior to her relocation in the USA, she served as the concertmaster of the Danish String ensemble Den Fynske Sinfonietta and was previously a member of Odense Symphony Orchestra. She hold diplomas in piano and violin from the Carl Nielsen Academy in Odense, Denmark (her native country) and a doctor of musical arts degree in violin performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music. |
